Drink to Your Health

Happy almost-weekend, friends! 

I have a confession to make - I'm a big fan of smoothies and juices. I think they are a great way to get in a bunch of nutrients that are easily digestible. That being said, there are many smoothies and juices out there that are massive sugar bombs (looking at you, apple juice). Here are my thoughts in the whole juice v. smoothie debate (it's a thing): drink your veggies | eat your fruit. 

If you're ordering or making a juice, make sure it's filled with tons of veggies. Add some lemon or ginger if you want to brighten it up. This is a chance for your body to absorb some amazing nutrients. Our bodies absorb juices so quickly, and if we're drinking a juice that's primarily fruit, our blood sugar is going to spike and it's not much different than a candy bar. 

If you're into smoothies, feel free to add some fruit. No need to go crazy - I still promote a primarily veggie smoothie, but since we are keeping all of the fiber in the smoothie, it will create a steady absorption into the body. I also use smoothies as a chance to add in all of the goods: collagen, adaptogens, spirulina, bee pollen (the list goes on and on, but this is the perfect time to up-level your daily nutrient intake).
